Velocity is a Rossiter Ocean 2, a well-built fiberglass rowing boat built in 2020. Designed for a crew of up to four, with two rowing positions, she is renowned for her stability, comfort and versatility. She can also be rowed by a single person. Velocity has an impressive ocean-crossing history, having completed Atlantic crossings from Lanzarote to Antigua in 2021 and 2022, a crossing from Lanzarote to Cape Verde in 2023, and a Pacific crossing from Lima, Peru, to Cairns, Australia, in 2025 with a female pair. She received a full hull survey before her Pacific crossing and received an electrical survey afterwards.
She is equipped with an extensive range of navigation, communication and safety equipment, including a Simrad chart plotter, AIS, fixed and handheld VHF radios and a hydraulic autopilot system. Recent upgrades in 2025 include a new watermaker, EFOY Pro 2800 fuel cell, hydraulic autopilot pump and ram, solar panels and lithium batteries, carbon-fibre rudders, six new or refurbished Croker oars and sections of SeaDek decking. Combining proven ocean-going capability with modern equipment and significant recent upgrades, Velocity offers a versatile platform for ambitious ocean rowing expeditions.
Velocity also comes with some loose and spare equipment.
