Boat "Happy Socks" - For Sale £30 000

Built in 2011 in the UK byJamie Fabrizio, she is a classic Phil Morrison design.

She was rowed successfully from Gran Canaria to Barbados by John Beeden in 2011, then by Sarah Outen from Japan to Aleutian Islands in 2013. On her way back to Europe in 2015, she was rescued near the Portuguese coast and Happy Socks was left drifting for 93 days, and retrieved by the Irish Coast Guard. The following owner, Lia Ditton did a lot of work on it and crossed the Mid-Pacific route successfully in 2020. There was an attempted Atlantic crossing in 2023, which had to be abandoned due to an electrical failure. I have crossed the Atlantic (Gran Canaria to Barbados) successfully in it this year.

There is one rowing position. It is a very stable keeled boat. I have never capsized during my long crossing in rough seas. All the rollover tests with increasing weights had been successfully performed before my departure.

The work carried out by me before my departure:
- New 100 amp Victron Li batteries x 2 installed.
- New custom-made top-of-the-range Solbian solar panels.
- Genasun solar regulators.
- The boat had been fully re-wired before my crossing in the Summer 2025.

Issues to address:
- The main aft cabin hatch needs changing due to the leaks.
- The steering has always been basic with no auto-tiller. The current set up is temporary - I had to rig a new one during my crossing.

Otherwise, the boat is seaworthy. I have been rowing it as it is up until Barbados.

It will be available to view from mid-May and it will be kept at my house in the New Forest between Southampton and Salisbury.

The asking price is £30.000 and is negotiable.

The equipment that is included is:
- a para anchor
- a drogue
- an anchor (never been used)

I do have (almost) everything needed for the crossing, and am prepared to negotiate what more could be included, or sold separately.

Please contact me directly for more info. I have got to know the boat quite intimately during my 96-day crossing and am happy to share my knowledge with you.
